    Abstract: The research results on segregation in vibrated granular media obtained and published so far are discussed in the paper. The most intriguing segregation phenomena are revealed in the course of discussion. The analysis of the segregation phenomena without taking into account any structural characteristics of vibrated granular media is defined as the main reasonfor their controversial explanations. A method of determination of granular temperature dependence on the depth coordinate of a vibrated bed of particles is proposed to forecast structural characteristics on the basis of a granular medium state equation.

    Abstract: An experimental and analytical method is developed to forecast the profiles of velocity and the fraction of void volume in rapid gravity flows of particulate solids on a vibrated rough chute. This method assumes the analogy between particulate medium under conditions of relatively big component of fluctuation velocity of particles and the dense gas. As the first stage, the method was approved on a vibrated motionless bed of nonelastic cohesionless particles.

    Abstract: The article argues that effective methods of presenting the undetermined parameters of mathematical models are interval numbers. The algorithms for solving the interval mathematical models of statics and dynamics with lumped and distributed parameters are discussed. The algorithms are based on solving optimization problems. The implementation of the algorithms is exemplified by the model of the firing process of the material in a rotary furnace, in which the information about some of the parameters is given in the form of interval numbers. The presented method can effectively solve the problems of designing and technological process control in the conditions of uncertainty.

    Abstract: Drying plants are common in the industry, but the complexity of their consideration as an object of control makes it very time-consuming to design real-time control systems based on the existing mathematical apparatus of the optimal control theory. The paper deals with the control algorithm based on the application of artificial intelligence methods to synthesize the optimal control, and to neutralize effects of process mode from acceptable values.

    Abstract: The results of the study of the process of extraction of technological pollutants from woollen fabrics after various process operations (washing process) are described. The possibility of increasing the efficiency of the probed process is shown under ultrasonic influence on an extractant (washing solution).

    Abstract: The paper presents the results of experimental research into the process of bio-diesel fuel production by the methanolysis of rapeseed oil with a homogeneous alkaline catalyst in the apparatus with a vortex layer of magnetic elements. It has been established that the characteristic feature of the process of bio-diesel fuel production in the given apparatus is its high speed. The yield of reaction products is 98.7 % with reaction time of 3 s, temperature 60 °?, the molar ratio “oil – methanol” 1:6, and the amount of alkaline catalyst 0.75 % mass.
